Wargamer’s Cave and the Siegeworld Gaming Club
present
“The Big Game 2012”
a 40K Apocalypse Game
Jan 21, 2012

The Big Game 2012 is a Warhammer 40K Apocalypse game originally organized by Alex Peters in an effort to have the biggest game of Apocalypse ever. In Jan of 2011, 22 locations across 5 countries hosted “The Big Game 2011” in which a total of 2,310,835 points participated in an epic battle to control Corridian IV. This year the Siegeworld Gaming Club and Wargamer’s Cave will host a Saint Louis area location to this event. Come out and be a part of 40K history as players all across the globe battle for control of Corridian IV.

Entry fee for this event will be $10.00 per player payable at the door. Entry fees will go towards prize support (best painted super heavy model and door prizes). Please sign up by posting or e-mailing what army you are fielding and roughly how many points you will bring, Forces of Order or Forces or Forces of Disorder. Final side assignments will be made the day of the event; however, if I have a good idea of the number of players and their army sizes I may be able to make side assignments in advance. So please let me know!

Date: Jan 21, 2012
Location: Wargamer’s Cave, 3665 Nameoki Rd, Granite City, IL 62040
Tele: 618-560-4348
Registration Begins: 9:30 AM
Game Starts: 10:30 AM

The following rules will be used for this game:
• Warhammer 40,000, 5th Edition Rules
• Warhammer 40k Apocalypse and Apocalypse Reloaded
• All Official Game Workshop Published FAQs and Datasheets
• All Forgeworld Imperial Armor Publications and FAQs
• Custom Data Sheets (must be approved by Big Kahuna)
Note: Draft custom datasheets must be submitted to Big Kahuna no later then Jan 15th for consideration. Big Kahuna reserves the right to modify submitted data sheets as he sees fit. Final approved datasheets will be posted.

The order of precedence for rules is as follows
1. Scenario Special Rules/Restrictions (will be published in advance)
2. Games Workshop rules, Datasheets, and FAQs
3. Forgeworld rules and FAQs (Datasheets for Apocalypse overrides Rules in Imperial Armor)
4. Adepticon INAT FAQ

Special Rules:
• Each player should plan on bringing an army utilizing a somewhat standard force organization (with unlimited points). An additional category will be used, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), which includes Super Heavies and Gargantuan Creatures. Note: WMDs will be limited to 0 – 2 and no WMD may have more than 4 structure points.
HQ 1 – 2
Elite 0 – 3
Troop 2 +
Fast Attack 0 – 3
Heavy 0 – 3
WMD 0 – 2

• Formations will take up only one slot in the force organization. (I.e. a Space Marine player brings 5 Predator Annihilators as part of a Predator Assassination formation. This formation takes up only one heavy slot in the force organization. Note that all 5 predators must maintain a formation cohesion restriction, which in this case is 6 inches.)

• Formations that have multiple force types will taken on the highest type in the formation. (I.e. an Ork player brings 130 Orks and a Warboss as part of Da Green Tide formation. Since the highest force type in this formation is a HQ, the Warboss, the formation takes one HQ slot in the force organization. Note that all 131 models in this formation must maintain unit cohesion of 2 inches.)

• Each Player may choose one free Strategic Asset from Warhammer 40k Apocalypse or Apocalypse Reloaded. Additional Strategic Assets are allowed only if granted by a chosen formation.

• The Strategic Asset “Flank March” is only allowed for a formation that grants it and then can only be used by that formation, regardless of what the Data Sheet states.

• Valkries, Vendettas, Stormravens, and Caestus Rams count as flyers with Hover Mode special rule.

Please post or e-mail any questions you may have and RSVP for your spot.

Here are the Special Scenario Rules for the Big Game II in the STL area at Wargamer's Cave

Game Length:
The game will last at least 4 turns and no more than 6 turns. Turns will be timed.

Objectives:
There will be 1 objective for every 10,000 points participating in the “Big Game”. Starting at the top of Turn 2, all objective points are added up every player turn (i.e. top of Turn 2, bottom of Turn 2, top of Turn 3, etc…). To claim an objective a Scoring Unit must be with in 3 inches of an Objective with no enemy contesting units with in 3 inches of the Objective. Also any rule that adds objective to the game or changes the point value of an objective will not be enforced (i.e. if Bjorn the Fell Handed is wrecked he does not become an objective, the Vital Objective Strategic Asset will not make an objective worth 2, the Corrupt & Despoil Strategic Asset will not nullify an objective, etc…)

Scoring Units:
Only Troop Choices are considered scoring units. (Note: if you take a 131 strong Green Tide Formation it is considered an HQ choice even though the majority of the formation is Troops and hence is not a Scoring Unit.)

Contesting Units:
Only Non-Super Heavies/Non-Gargantuan Creature models with a WS are considered contesting units.

Flyers vs. Titans:
Flyers are always considered to be outside of the Titan’s Power Shields or Void Shields.

Special Flyer/Skimmers:
Valkries, Vendettas, Stormravens, and Caestus Rams count as flyers with Hover Mode special rule. Note: per Apocalypse rules, all flyers cannot be placed on the table during initial deployment and must start the game in Strategic Reserves.

Special Characters:
Special Characters only affect units in your army and not your team mates (even if they have are using the same Codex).

Strategic Assets:
Each player may choose one (1) free Strategic Asset from Warhammer 40K Apocalypse or Apocalypse Reloaded. Additional Strategic Assets are allowed only if granted by a fielded formation. (Note: The Strategic “Flank March” is only allowed for a formation that grants it and then can only be used be that formation, regardless of what the Data Sheet says.)

Deathstrike Vortex Missile and Pulsa Rocket:
Only one Deathstrike Vortex Missile and/or Pulsa Rocket per player is allowed.

Titans, Gargantuan Creatures, and Super Heavies:
All Titans, Gargantuan Creatures, and Super Heavies must start the game deployed on the board and may not be held in Strategic Reserves (Super Heavy Flyers are the exception as they must start in Strategic Reserves). In addition; once destroyed, no Titan, Gargantuan Creature, or Super Heavy (including Super Heavy Flyers) may be brought back into the game (i.e. the Replacements Strategic Asset).

Wound Allocation:
To speed tings up, the defending player may, in any attack, simply roll all saves against wounds (using the squad’s majority armor save) at once and remove any models he/she wants.

Destroyer Weapons:
If the center hole is over the model or model base, then the hit is resolved at STR D per the Apocalypse rules. However, if the center hole is not over a model or base, then the hit is resolved as a STR 10, AP 1, Ordinance Hit, and cover saves are taken at -2 to the role.

Another successful Apocalypse event to add to the history books. Here at the St. Louis site for the Big Game II, we had 10 players field 70,000 points of Warhammer 40,000 goodness. The forces of Order, consisting of nilla-Space Marines, Imperial Fists, Blood Angles, and Imperial Guard; defended the battle field with 35,000 points of Imperial furry. The forces of disorder, consisting of Eldar, Thousand Sons, Traitor Guard, Daemons, and Rogue Space Marines; brought their own 35, 000 points to the party. Overall the forces of disorder managed to squeeze out a victory. I will pyut together a quick battle report later, in the mean time here is a link to some photos I took of the event. If you have photos of the event, please contact me so that I might be able to get copies and add them to my album.
